How do I let Amara use the microphone?
Amara needs to use the microphone so Mia and Max can hear you.
When you first set up Amara, it asks for permission to use the microphone — just tap Allow when the question appears, and you're all set. If you tapped something else at the time, or you'd rather turn it on later, you can switch it on yourself in your phone's settings. It only takes a minute.
On an iPhone or iPad:
- Open Settings on your phone.
- Scroll down and tap Amara in the list.
- Switch Microphone on.
On an Android phone:
- Open Settings on your phone.
- Tap Apps, then tap Amara.
- Tap Permissions, then allow Microphone.
Good to know
The exact wording can vary a little depending on your phone. Look for the words Microphone and Amara, and you'll be in the right place.
If you can't find Amara in the list, open the app and try talking to Mia or Max first — that prompts the phone to ask for the microphone, and Amara then appears in your settings.
