Amara isn't responding or can't hear me

Amara isn't responding or can't hear me

Most of the time this is one of a few simple things — the Talk button wasn't tapped, the volume's turned down, or Amara doesn't have permission to use the microphone. Try these in order.

  1. Tap the green Talk button, then speak. Amara listens when you tap Talk — if you speak before tapping, it won't hear you.
  2. Turn the volume up using the buttons on the side of your phone or tablet, and check it isn't on silent.
  3. Say something and wait a moment for Mia or Max to reply. They take a short moment to listen and answer — that pause is normal.
  4. Check the microphone is switched on for Amara. If it isn't, there's a short guide in "How to let Amara use the microphone".
  5. Speak a little louder, and clearly — a quiet room helps.
  6. Check you're connected to the internet. There's more in "Internet or connection problems".
  7. Close Amara and open it again. This clears most small glitches.
