How do I set up Amara for my parents or grandparents?

How do I set up Amara for my parents or grandparents?

You don't need to. Amara Home arrives ready to use: the tablet is already connected to your Amara Family App. Your parents or grandparents don't have to do anything.

What happens after you order

  1. You'll get an email with a login code for the Amara Family App. See How do I get the Amara Family App?
  2. You create an account.
  3. From then on, you can invite your family. See How do families work with Amara, and how many people can I invite?
  4. In the app, you enter your parents' or grandparents' first name and language, and a photo if you like. After that, the “Finish setup” list guides you through the rest: photos, radio stations, podcasts or TV, what Amara should help with, and inviting more family members.

Until the first name is entered, chat, calls and photos on the tablet stay locked.

Meanwhile, the tablet is already on its way, to your parents or grandparents or to you, depending on where you're sending it.

When the tablet arrives

  1. Put the tablet in the dock. The port points to the right.
  2. Plug the long cable into the power adapter, the power adapter into the socket and the short cable into the tablet.
  3. Hold down the power button on top of the tablet for a few seconds. The tablet starts up.

That's it. There's nothing to connect or pair.

Wi-Fi?

Not necessarily. With the internet option, the tablet goes online through the built-in SIM card. Without the internet option, it needs Wi-Fi. More in Do I need Wi-Fi for Amara? and How do I connect the tablet to Wi-Fi?

You're not there?

No problem. See Can I set up Amara if I'm not there?
